Adult Occupational Therapy › Assessment

An assessment starts with what you want to get back to. We combine conversation, standardized testing, and — where it helps — seeing you in your own home or workplace, to understand what's making daily life harder and what will make the biggest difference.

Functional mobility

How you move through your day: getting in and out of bed, standing from a chair, managing stairs, moving
safely around your home.

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

The wider tasks that keep life running: cooking, shopping, managing money, medications, and housework.

Community mobility

Getting out and about — public transport, parking, navigating shops and appointments, and how confident
you feel doing it.

Memory and executive functioning

Remembering appointments, planning ahead, starting and finishing tasks, and managing several things at
once.

Vision and visual-perceptual function

How well your eyes work together and how you interpret what you see — often affected after concussion,
stroke, or neurological injury.

Strength and endurance

Your overall physical capacity for a full day of activity, and how quickly you fatigue.

Pain and fatigue

How pain and fatigue behave across your day and week, what sets them off, and how they limit what you do.

Functional job match assessment

A direct comparison between your current physical and cognitive capacity and the specific demands of your
job.

Mental health and emotional well-being

How mood, anxiety, and confidence are affecting your daily function — because recovery is rarely only
physical.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

The essentials — dressing, bathing, grooming, eating. We look at what you manage independently and
where effort, pain, or risk is building up.

Home safety

A practical look at your living space for fall risks, access difficulties, and setups that are working against you.

Cognitive functioning

Attention, processing speed, and problem solving as they show up in real tasks, not just on paper.

Concussion assessment

A structured look at the effects of concussion on thinking, vision, balance, fatigue, and tolerance for daily
activity.

Upper extremity function

Shoulder, arm, and hand movement, strength, and dexterity, and how these affect the tasks you need to do.

Balance and fall risk

Steadiness during everyday movement, with a clear picture of where your risk of falling sits and what raises
it.

Return-to-work readiness

Whether you're currently able to meet the demands of your role, and what would need to change for a safe
return.

Driving readiness screening

A screening of the vision, reaction, and cognitive skills driving requires, where this is relevant to your
recovery.
