Occupational Therapist (Provisional), MOT

Bruce Danesh

Bruce provides community-based occupational therapy across Northern BC. He drives the region regularly, because he believes people in rural and northern communities deserve the same standard of care available anywhere else in the province. His approach comes down to one standard: he treats every client the way he would want his own family treated, with patience, follow-through, and the belief that small, practical changes can meaningfully change someone's day. Bruce holds a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia's Northern cohort and an Honours B.Sc. in Health Sciences from UNBC, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class. He completed more than 1,200 hours of supervised clinical training across acute care and emergency, long-term care, mental health, pediatrics, and community practice, with placements in Prince George, Prince Rupert, Vanderhoof, and Fort St. J ohn. That range means he has worked with people at very different points in life, and he knows what it actually takes to deliver care in the North. Bruce works with clients recovering from motor vehicle and workplace injuries, supporting their return to work, to home routines, and to the activities that matter to them. He also works with children and their families, including children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and sensory or motor challenges. Whoever is in front of him, the goal is the same: helping people do the things they need and want to do, in their own home and on their own terms. Both of Bruce's degrees were earned on Lheidli T'enneh traditional territory, and Indigenous learning has been a consistent part of his education at UNBC and UBC, from coursework and community learning with Elders to training in cultural safety and cultural humility. He brings that into practice as a working commitment rather than a credential. Bruce moved from Toronto to Prince George in 2018, drawn by the healthcare gaps in the North and a desire to work somewhere he was genuinely needed. He served as MS Ambassador for Prince George and founded the UNBC Multiple Sclerosis Support Club, and he currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society. Bruce speaks English and Farsi. When he isn't working, he's happiest on a soccer or volleyball court, or anywhere people are gathered.
